Homework
At our school, we believe that homework is an important way to support, reinforce, and extend learning that takes place in the classroom. It helps children:
-
Consolidate new knowledge and practise key skills
-
Develop independence and a sense of responsibility
-
Build good study habits and organisational skills
-
Share their learning journey with family at home
Our Approach to Homework
Homework is set regularly using Seesaw, our online learning platform. Tasks are carefully chosen to match current classroom learning and are often differentiated to suit the individual needs of each child.
We aim to make homework:
-
Purposeful and relevant
-
Manageable in terms of time and expectations
-
A positive experience that builds confidence
We encourage children to complete their homework independently, but support from parents is always welcomed and valued.
What to Expect at Home
Children are expected to:
-
Read daily at home – reading together, listening to your child read, or discussing books makes a huge difference.
-
Practise number bonds in Key Stage 1 and timetables regularly from Year 2 onwards
-
Learn and revise spellings using weekly spelling lists provided on Seesaw
-
Use online tools to support key maths, writing and topic skills
We recommend short, regular sessions over long periods of time. If your child is struggling with a task, please let the teacher know via Seesaw – we’re here to help.
